Who We Are
We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them. Alleviating Poverty from Deprive Communities Africa Goodwill Foundation, AGF is a registered Charity in England and Wales in 1999. It was set to assist in the relief of poverty and preservation and protection of health, advancement of education and the provision of humanitarian relief in both United Kingdom and Africa. The more specifically to support the most disadvantaged people in the conflict area of Northern Uganda that has suffered the war that lasted for over two decades. As well, any other geographical area as determined by the trustees. The big idea To transform the livelihoods of the most deprived and marginalized communities in Northern Uganda, undergone brutal war for almost three decades. To improve and support their welfare, quality of life through sustainable development, education and health awareness campaign against HIV/AIDS Ongoing Need The poorest families are struggling to recover from war raged for almost three decades by Joseph Kony (LRA), in post conflict areas of Northern Uganda. Infrastructure and social economic fabric of the area has been destroyed. Children and young people have been the most affected leaving behind 2.5 million orphans having sadly missed their parents, education and other life skills. Young people now need to gain skills to maintain healthy living and make a future economic contribution. Solution Children from the poorest families, orphan bread winners, young mother, and stigmatized youths and young people with disabilities will be identified for support. Peer support groups will raise rights awareness and provide training business skills. Accessto credit and markets. Health awareness campaign and training will improve hygiene epidemic to combat the spread of deadly diseases especially HIV/AIDS for better health. Child protection is a strong element for this project.
We started extending help to needy children and youth who were eager to study and work for a better life. This moment intensified when we found that there were many such underprivileged children who needed help with food, shelter and education. Our team expanded and we spread out in different regions to make sure we cover all possible areas and help as many children as possible.

Water Crisis and Poor Sanitation in Rural Ugandan
Aims and objectives:

advancement of education and the provision of humanitarian relief in both United Kingdom
and Africa. The more specifically to support the most disadvantage people in the conflict
areas of Northern Uganda that have suffered the war that lasted for over two decades. As
well, any other geographical area as determined by the trustees.
The big idea
To transform the lives of people in Rural Uganda by providing clean and safe drinking water,
sanitation training and hygiene to avoid the spread of cholera, typhoid, dysentery diseases.
To help bring life to people who have no access to fresh, clean drinking water and no access
to sanitation causing the spread of water related illness. These are major contributory factor
to death especially to children, undermining efforts to end extreme poverty.
Ongoing project depending on the availability of funds
Need
In rural Uganda halve of the people have no access to clean safe water. Poor sanitation,
hygiene and unsafe water is contributing to poor health and extreme poverty. Most people
are drinking unsafe, dirty water leading to high level of water related diseases such as
cholera, typhoid, dysentery malaria and water-borne diseases with high impact of child
mortality of the vulnerable children. Women and children spend more time collecting
unsafe water from long distances instead of education.
We have been approached by local residents of Iceme village, Oyam Districts area, as a
whole in Northern Uganda to develop this project plan by drilling wells serving a community
of around 2,000 people in the deprived and drought-hit areas. The project will be monitored
by our partner (FIRD}: a local NGO’s and the local authority. The immediate solution is to
construct water well with hand pump. Set up a committee to participate in hygiene and
sanitation workshop to learn how to build their own sanitation.
Location
Over half of the population of the rural Uganda lacks access to sanitation and safe water and
has no choice but to drink dirty water and defecate in the open. We work in Northern
Uganda where more than 83% of the people live in poverty. We support project in the rural
districts especially Iceme village. Omolo parish in Oyam District and plan to expand to
Lango-sub region as a whole. The communities in these districts are largely subsistence
farmers and lack basic infrastructure.
Beneficiaries
Local communities will benefit from clean safe water and a safe, dignified place to go to the
toilet improving sanitation. Positively impacting on their health. Transportation and local
markets will contribute to the reconstruction and economic stability of Uganda. Standard or
living will be improved in the rural countryside. Women and young girls will be freed from
the burden of collecting water. Children will be healthier to attend school more often.

Our strong genuine partnership with community based organisation [FIRD] will be
facilitating and curing the project and ensuring its success. We have good experience of
working in partnership with local authority NAADS. We have demonstrated our support can
help venerable group of people to improve their lives.

We want to build a world where no child or youth feels alone and gets every possible help they need as soon as possible.
Our entire team wants to see a world where every youngster struggling in any way feels able to reach out and has people who’ll help them with education, jobs, and more. We want to spread out in every region so we’ll be reachable to all.
Solution:

Education work will improve child attendance and performance instead of wasting time
fetching water if boreholes are built. Child attendance and performance will reduce wasting

Health club will be set to teach communities about good hygiene to reduce the cause of
water related diseases. Our health clubs will teach communities about good hygiene. Fresh
water is essential for keeping communities healthy and free from disease.

Local communities will be trained to maintain the water pumps. Liaise with village councils,
community groups to plan implementation and building.
By training communities to maintain water pumps, they will be responsible for the upkeep
of the water pumps.
Impact
Reduction in incident of water related diseases resulting to a lot of deaths that could be
saved if this water crisis and luck of sanitation could be sorted out.
Improvement of health of local population, notably a reduction in the incident of cholera,
typhoid, dysentery, diarrhoea, water borne diseases. Reduction in child mortality, change of
behaviour like a reduction in the incidents of open defecation.
Providing training and education on hygiene and sanitation by constructing latrines.
Risk
Africa Goodwill Foundation has limited funding and continued reliance on donor funding.
Opportunities in having a potential to get more partners and to design variable projects that
can attract funding from various partners. There are government Programmes which
support some of the strategic objectives, eg, NAADS, NUSAF11. But are closed because of
corruption and mismanagement.
Reporting
We will tailor to our requirements. Funders will be supplied with monthly reports detailing
progress, challenges and changes will be evaluated in the feedback and forwarded to the
funders. If the project is successful, we will send monthly report to the funders who may
require through an email.
